STORM RECOVERY ALERT, SUNDAY, MAY 19, 2024--The majority of Downtown has reopened and Downtown Houston+ Cleaning and Safety Ambassadors have returned to regular schedules. Road closures for a few blocks will continue until pedestrian and traffic access is deemed safe, but the majority of Downtown is open for business. Acclaimed Texas artist Margo Sawyer's geometric work Synchronicity of Color was dedicated on April 3, 2008, in Houston's new Downtown park, Discovery Green. The two-piece architectural installment of red- and blue-themed aluminum boxes conceal concrete stairwells that lead into the Convention District parking garage beneath Discovery Green, across from the George R. Brown Convention Center. More than 1,400 aluminum boxes were used to create the vibrant work of art.
