Storm recovery update for May 17-18, 2024: To protect the public, HPD will assign officers to Downtown intersections where storm damage is greatest, an area roughly from Walker St. to Clay St. and Smith St. to Fannin St. Road closures and limited pedestrian access will remain until the properties and area are deemed safe. Tomorrow, our crews will be back at work at 7 a.m. removing the remainder of shattered glass and treating an estimated 200 downed or damaged trees and landscape. Before traveling into Downtown, please confirm the event has not been cancelled and your planned route has been cleared.

Be an urban cowboy/girl and two-step over to The Heritage Society to see an museum gallery exhibit filled with 92 years of Rodeo History! From award-winning paintings to vintage bronco bull riding photos, this HLSR exhibit complements the rodeo season in February and the Texas History Month in March. This exhibit represents the cowboy spirit across Houston’s main heritages and is a big part of Houston history! Rodeo culture brings nearly all Texans together through food, skills competitions, music, parades, fundraisers, the carnival, vendors/exhibitors, and family entertainment.
Some of the artifacts include-
George Bush Presidential Library Foundation saddle holder
Black and Hispanic Cowboy Heritage
Taylor Swift, Dolly Parton, Cody Johnson, Alabama, plus more signed guitars showcase (#swifties)
Photography, paintings, collectibles, costumery, and memorabilia of all the competitions
