At noon on Wednesday, December 3rd, please join us as the Music and Fine Arts Ministry of First Methodist Houston's Downtown Campus, 1320 Main St. @ Clay, presents the first of three Wednesday Christmas Concerts. This concert will feature The Houston Bronze Ensemble, directed by Ben Harris.
The Houston Bronze Ensemble (HBE) is a professional, auditioned, hand bell ensemble comprised of musicians from the greater Houston area. The ensemble was founded in the fall of 1988 by Hart Morris, formerly the Director of Music Ministries at Grace Presbyterian Church in Houston.
The goal of the HBE is to bring a distinctive level of expertise and artistry of English Handbell Ringing through concerts and educational venues.
HBE has played annual Christmas and Spring Concerts in the greater Houston area; weddings, various parties, and Music Conferences. In the summer of 1999, HBE was the featured Concert Choir to open the 1999 AGEHR (American Guild of English Handbell Ringers, Inc.) Western National Handbell Festival Conference in Tulsa, Oklahoma. HBE performed a showcase concert at Pinacle 2000 in Las Vegas, Nevada, and were the featured performers at the PAM (Presbyterian Association of Musicians) Conference on Worship and Music in Albuquerque, New Mexico, in July of 2000. HBE performed the opening night concert for Pinnacle 2002, held in Orlando, Florida, in January, 2002. The Ensemble also held a workshop and was featured in concert at Texas Conference Choir Clinic on June 3, 2002. HBE performed the opening concert for the AGEHR Area IX (Texas and Oklahoma) Festival/Conference in Edmond, OK on June 16, 2006.
Bring a friend and enjoy this special performance designed to get us into the Christmas spirit.
