Houston Symphony's YPB hosts a swingin' event to launch a new season

Launching a new season, members and guests of Houston Symphony’s Young Professionals Backstage (YPB) reveled in a swingin’ evening to celebrate the first event of their subscription season, YPB @ One O’Clock Swings. Starting at Jones Hall, the group enjoyed the Houston Symphony’s POPS concert, One O’Clock Swings, which featured the Symphony musicians and the University of North Texas’ One O’Clock Lab Band in a blend of classic jazz and swing tunes by Count Basie, Duke Ellington and George Gershwin. The troupe then strolled across the street to Sambuca Jazz Café where they were greeted with Sambuca’s finest sips and snacks and DJ Ash spinning swing tunes. Houston Symphony musicians, including new concertmaster Frank Huang, Lab Band-ers and swing dancers from the Houston Swing Dance Society jabbed and jived with the hipsters until the wee hours concluding a fabulous start to the YPB season.

Artsy types in the mix included: Beth Bryant, Liam Bonner, Jonathan G. Cowen, Frank Huang, Naji Ghorayeb, Corbett Daniel Parker and Houston Ballet's Sarah Meals.
