Da Camera Showcases Young Artists at A Little Day Music Concert

Da Camera of Houston’s long-standing
A Little Day Music series of free lunchtime concerts continues in the Grand Foyer of the Wortham Theater Center, Wednesday, February 1 at noon. This month’s free program features an adventurous and eclectic program of chamber music masterpieces performed by the members of the Da Camera Young Artist Program. The media sponsor is Houston Public Radio – KUHF News 88.7 and Classical 91.7.

Da Camera’s Young Artists have been challenged to create new strategies for sharing music. In performances at the Wortham Center, The Menil Collection and across the city, the Young Artists reimagine traditional concert experiences, presenting music to educate, fascinate and inspire. The Young Artists work extensively in Houston’s public schools, collaborating with teachers and performing music just feet away from students’ desks. Da Camera Young Artists hold degrees from our nation’s top music conservatories, including The Juilliard School, Eastman School of Music, the University of Houston’s Moores School of Music and Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music. As individuals, they have performed in concerts and music festivals throughout the world. They have studied with the music world’s most illustrious teachers. As a group they represent the highest quality collection of young, creative musical talent Houston has to offer.

The A Little Day Music series features live music and drawings for tickets to
Da Camera’s upcoming events. A Little Day Music concerts fulfill an important aspect of Da Camera’s mission to develop the audience for chamber music and jazz by making it accessible to everyone and part of everyday life.

A Little Day Music is presented on the first Wednesday of every month from October through May, excluding January. A Little Day Music continues on March 7 with a recital by Timothy Hester, piano and Richie Hawley, clarinet.

A Little Day Music concerts are free of charge and Da Camera encourages concertgoers to bring and enjoy their lunches while listening to the music. For more information or to reserve space for a group larger than 15, please call Da Camera at 713/524-5050 or go to www.dacamera.com.
