Is it that time already? Feels like we just announced our move to Discovery Green™, and now it’s less than two weeks until the second annual Texas Beer Festival!
The Texas Beer Fest, a one day beer tasting festival designed to promote the appreciation of craft beer, will take place on Discovery Green™ in Downtown Houston on April 28th, 2012 from 1:00pm to 7:00pm for general entry and 12:00pm to 7:00pm for VIPs. The Texas Beer Fest is the only craft beer festival in Texas featuring tastings of over 23 local, Texas breweries in one location!
Over 70 Breweries will be in attendance, including many new-to-market and recently debuted Texas breweries whose products are not easily found in the Houston area. For the Texas Beer Fest patron looking for a unique pour, the Great Brewers Specialty Beer Wall will be tapping hard-to-find craft beers and beers brewed specifically for the Texas Beer Fest.
And for those looking to learn a lesson or two about craft beer, there will be home brewing demos; a “State of the Craft” Texas craft brewer and industry discussion panel; Houston Beer book signings by the Chronicle’s Ronnie Crocker; and food and beer pairing tips. VIP patrons will get front row seats to all events at the demo stage, and they will experience the royal treatment in the Brick House Tavern + Tap VIP tent with their own bar with some favorites from Houston area breweries.
In addition to supporting local and craft beer, the Texas Beer Fest will also feature 8 representatives of Houston’s diverse local craft food industry and food truck culture. You will be able to fill your belly courtesy of local Houston area favorites like Bread and Batter Baking, Café Luz, Coreanos Houston, Les Givrals, the Little Baker, Rockwell Tavern, Sammy’s Wild Game Grill, and Wicked Whisk Catering.
For the music lovers out there, the Texas Beer Fest has invited an entertaining mix of performers featuring: Handsome Ransome’s indie folk rock with a message, Fish Fry Bingo’s raucous 5 piece hillbilly jug band, Houston’s own award winning Brant Croucher’s mix of country, Americana, and rock, and finally, Curtis Grimes, who has performed on NBC’s The Voice, all over Texas, and with artists such as Jack Ingram, Justin Moore, Eli Young Band, Leann Rimes, Josh Abbott, and Kevin Fowler.
Finally, 25% of net proceeds will be donated to the Houston Food Bank reminding us to always think of our neighbors.
