FOR WELL over a decade downtown Houston had been serviced by four hotels, with approximately 1,800 rooms. But the demand for hotel rooms in downtown Houston has increased, and hoteliers and investors have responded. Since 2001, over 3,300 new hotel rooms have been added, taking downtown’s current hotel room count to 5,120. Two new hotels are slated for downtown and will add an additional 1,325 hotel rooms and taking downtown’s hotel room count to 6,445 by early 2016.
Downtown offers variety in hotel options including large convention hotels such as Hilton Americas, which is directly connected to the George R. Brown Convention Center, the Hyatt Regency and Doubletree, luxurious service at the Four Seasons and beautiful historic options with Hotel Icon, The Sam Houston Hotel and Magnolia Houston.
