RETAIL in downtown Houston is a key component to service our downtown and near downtown residents, office workforce of 140,000 and the many visitors that stay and come to downtown for meetings, conventions or just for fun.
Most of downtown’s major infrastructure projects were completed in 2005, making downtown a new, vibrant and easy to navigate place. Daytime and nighttime activities have increased pedestrian traffic along the major streets and increased visitation and convention business has improved the potential for retail more than ever.
Although you will find retail throughout downtown, our major retail activity centers are located in the Historic District, Shopping District, Theater District and along the Main Street Corridor.
