Join the DIY movement and unleash your inner crafter at our neighborhood social series, DIY Downtown in partnership with Pop Shop America. Gather your friends, family and co-workers for a one-of-a-kind pop-up arts and crafts workshop at unique locations in the heart of Downtown Houston.

Listen to music, enjoy complimentary beer and wine along with savory treats from Local Foods and sweet treats from Phoenicia while making everything from handcrafted candles and indigo dyed tea towels to terrariums and mala bracelets. Come make with us!

    DIY Downtown: Terrarium Building
    Saint Arnold Brewing Company

    Join Pop Shop America at Saint Arnold Brewery to make your own terrarium using  plants, vessels, rocks, sand, soil and cute embellishments to make a modern and hip container garden. You'll also be provided beer related supplies from St. Arnold’s in addition to mini car toys that you’ll DIY into art cars. St. Arnold’s houses many of the coolest art cars in Houston at their brewery – so you can get first hand inspiration before you DIY.

    Local Foods Downtown and Phoenicia will be providing light bites for you to munch on during the workshop, so bring your appetite!

    DIY Downtown: Candles with Essential Oils
    Part & Parcel

    Join Pop Shop America at Part & Parcel where everyone will make a set of 3 small candles that you will get to keep. Choose from an array of pure essential oils like vanilla, jasmine, pine, and sage to make a blend that’s perfect for you. There will also be unique vessels to make extraordinary candles like seashells and lemons.

    Part & Parcel will be providing light bites for you to munch on during the workshop, so bring your appetite!

    DIY Downtown: Origami
    Julia Ideson Library
    500 McKinney

    Join Pop Shop America at Julia Ideson Library where everyone will learn how to read the dots and lines of origami patterns and learn how to fold cranes, dragons and lots of wonderful creations. Then you can choose to make more patterns or find one pattern that you love and make them into a hanging Origami Sculpture.
