Roses and Hearts on the Blue Sky depicts a typical Ukrainian flower pattern, familiar to citizens in the Ukraine. Nataliya Scheib aims to draw attention to Ukraine’s customs through her artwork, while also using the brightly colored composition to bring joy and vitality to this corner of Main Street Square.
Scheib’s multi-media work is very detail-oriented, reflecting on day-to-day modern life from her personal experiences. She refers to layers of history influenced by her Ukrainian upbringing. Scheib’s artworks have been selected to Lawndale Art Center’s Big Show in 2014 and 2015, and her paintings have been exhibited in many respected institutions in the United States and internationally. Scheib’s work was recently featured on the streets of Berlin as part of Berlin Art Institute’s public intervention project (September 2015).
