Wild Flowers includes flowers from my imagination and monochromatic dreams of the artist. In creating the piece, Ruben Ramires wanted to deconstruct the idea of perfection, instead employing sketched flowers, leaves and grass to create an abstract, chaotic image that would look aesthetically appealing.
A BIG thank you goes to the 1111 Travis Building for allowing us to utilize the windows of their property at 1100 Main.
Ruben Ramires is a Houston-based Portuguese illustrator and poet. His poetry and drawings are autobiographical, melancholic and nostalgic, with a focus on relationships and self-empowerment. Much of his work is inspired by mental health and the challenges that come with it, thus his creations often feature rough lines and unrefined figures which are meant to capture raw emotions. His drawings incorporate different elements of verse, poetry and humor.
