Da Camera of Houston has established itself as one of America’s leading presenters and producers of ensemble music: chamber music and jazz. The organization is widely acclaimed for its innovative programming, notably Artistic and General Director Sarah Rothenberg’s unique concerts connecting music with literature and the visual arts, as well as for its jazz series, featuring a distinctive mix of renowned performers and emerging artists.

The 15/16 season celebrates music's power to evoke time and place. Traversing diverse styles and over 600 years of history, the concerts and multimedia performances offer unique perspectives on our past and our present world. Highlights include

  • the Opening Night concert, Snapshots of America, featuring soprano
    Dawn Upshaw and works by Copland, Ives and George Crumb;
  • the Beethoven Perspectives series featuring Elias Quartet, pianist Yury Martynov in recital at the Menil and two performances of violin and piano sonatas by the celebrated duo of Kristóf Baráti and Klára Würtz;
  • Grammy Award-winning jazz vocalist Gregory Porter;
  • The Colorado: A Film Oratorio with soundscapes by composers including Pulitzer Prize-winner John Luther Adams performed by the vocal ensemble Roomful of Teeth;
  • Arturo O’Farrill’s Grammy Award-winning Afro-Latin Jazz Orchestra;
  • Renowned vocal ensemble Orlando Consort with 15th-century music illuminating the classic silent film La Passion de Jeanne d’Arc;
  • Sarah Rothenberg: The Marcel Proust Project, a new multimedia production revisiting the French author with a team of collaborators including tenor
    Nicholas Phan and lighting designer Jennifer Tipton; and
  • SFJAZZ Collective celebrating the music of pop icon Michael Jackson.
