House of Blues Houston opened in October of 2008 and is located in downtown Houston. The only House of Blues to be designed in a vertical format, this massive venue is the anchor for GreenStreet outdoor shopping and entertainment complex. The Bronze Peacock Room pays tribute to Houston's first blues club where Big Momma Thornton and Lightnin' Hopkins played. The giant hand–painted mural in the restaurant portrays these legends, along with hometown heroes Albert Collins Johnny "Guitar" Watson. In keeping with tradition, the House of Blues Houston displays the "Crazy Quilt" and keeps a metal box of mud from the Delta Mississippi underneath its stage.
