Get Your Cinco On!
How to celebrate Cinco de Mayo amidst a pandemic

It seems like it was just yesterday when the world realized the gift 2020 had given us: Cinco de Mayo falling on Taco Tuesday. Then came COVID-19 and self-isolation. While Houston restaurants may now be allowed to reopen their dining rooms, the Cinco de Mayo parties of yesteryear are not likely to happen this year. But don’t let the pandemic get in the way of your Cinco celebrations! Whether you’re having a fiesta of one or going all out with your quarantine crew, these restaurants are offering ways to raise a margarita glass [or to-go cup] in honor of Mexico’s victory over France in the 1862 Battle of Puebla.

Hearsay on the Green
Pop over to this chic antique hotspot’s Discovery Green location for a Cinco de Mayo pack to-go! At $18 per person, the pack includes a southwest salad, grilled and marinated fajitas [choose from chicken or beef] with sides of charro beans & cilantro rice and tres leches bread pudding for dessert. Because it’s not a true celebration without margs, Hearsay margaritas are available by the quart for $18. Looking for a sit-down meal? Stop by between 11 am and 7pm to enjoy delicious dishes from a limited menu. Grapefruit margarita anyone?

El Big Bad
Join El Big Bad for their 10th annual Cinco de Mayo celebration! This year’s shindig kicks off Friday, May 1 and continues through Tuesday, May 5. You’re invited to party [first come, first served] at their place while sipping on their famous, award-winning ritas and chowing down on sizzilin’ fajita or cheesy enchilada dinners. Rather Cinco at home? No problem! Place your order for pickup or delivery and enjoy!

La Fisheria
Get your party on at this contemporary coastal Mexican cocina. From guac and queso fundido to tamales and tacos, this authentic restaurant doesn’t disappoint. Grab a table inside or order your food to-go. Whatever you choose, this will definitely be a Cinco de Mayo meal for the books!

Don Juan Tacos & Ceviche
Venture underground for a taco tuesday unlike any other. Located inside the newly opened Underground Hall, Don Juan understands the power of a tasty taco. From carnitas to carne asada, their tacos are sure to cure your cravings. Oh, and did we mention they serve churros?

La Calle Tacos
Fiesta through the weekend with La Calle! Beginning Friday, May 1 the Market Square hangout is blessing us with $.99 tacos through Tuesday, May 5. We’re talking breakfast tacos, tostadas, street tacos and gringo tacos. Taco ‘bout a party [sorry, we had to do it]. Complete your meal with a side of street elote or chips and chicharron. And of course, frozen margaritas and piña coladas are available while dining-in and to-go by the liter.

The Lake House
Enjoy relaxing waterfront festivities this year at The Lake House! Make your way to this casual restaurant at Discovery Green for a spread by the lake. Start out with fajita nachos or chips and queso, then move on to your choice of fajitas or tacos. Quench your thirst with an ice cold beer or crisp glass of wine, and finish out your meal with a little sweet treat!

Please note: All restaurants are required to limit their capacity to 25% occupancy and cap parties at 6 people. Guests are required to follow all guidelines put in place by each business. We highly recommend you continue to wear face masks while in public, with the exception of when you are eating and drinking.
