Let The Good Times Roll Downtown

The countdown to Fat Tuesday is underway, so if you’re on the hunt for some Nola-esque action in Downtown Houston, we’re here to help you laissez les bons temps rouler!

SWEETEN UP  YOUR CELEBRATION

Take part in an extra sweet tradition with your very own King Cake. This French Quarter delicacy is the perfect blend between a coffee cake and cinnamon roll, and with the help of some of the best bakeries in Houston, you’ll be dubbed “King” of the day.

📍 Common Bond Brasserie & Bakery | 800 Capitol | Mon-Fri 7AM-9PM

Preorder the delicious, sweet brioche King Cake, with your choice of a traditional cinnamon or raspberry and cream cheese filling. To add to your festivities, order a DIY King Cake Kit with all the materials (including the baby to hide 😉) needed to capture the taste of Mardi Gras. For an after-work sweet treat, head to the bakery counter and pickup King Cake served by the slice!

 📍 Michael’s Cookie Jar | 711 Louisiana (Tunnel Level) | Mon-Fri 10AM-4PM

Head into the tunnels to pick-up a preordered King Cake from Michael’s Cookie Jar. Handmade and filled with cream cheese, cookie butter and cinnamon, calories don’t count when you’re eating King Cake. Of course, a trip to Michael’s Cookie Jar would not be complete without decorative cookies, so pick up an order of Mardi Gras cookies for your family or office…Although no judgment here if you keep the (baked) goods for yourself!

TASTE THE FLAVORS OF BOURBON STREET

Grab your beads and crack open some crawfish at The Rustic for their annual Fat Tuesday celebration, Mardi Craw.  Enjoy live music from Tomar and the FCs while you sip on frozen hurricanes and swamp things! From a good old-fashioned crawfish boil to jambalaya and étouffée, ignite your palate and celebrate big Downtown!

After spending the evening at the Downtown Aquarium, grab your family and savor delicious Cajun cuisine with their LTO menu. Reserve a table and indulge in blackened shrimp and grits with crawfish and a creole cream lobster sauce or blackened stuffed catfish, sure to have you dreaming of the bayou!

GRAB SOME BOURBON ALONG MAIN STREET

Capture the true spirit of Mardi Gras by celebrating on the street—Main Street that is! Pop into some of your favorite bars in Downtown’s historic neighborhood like McIntyre’s, Deans and Little Dipper Bar to celebrate with your krewe for a Fat Tuesday to remember!
