Love Is In The Air

It’s the season of love. Whether you’re on the lookout for a special Valentine’s Day date idea, or somewhere to take your S.O. after a long week of work, we’ve got you covered. Downtown has something to offer for every kind of romantic evening, so dust off your fancy shoes and plan a night on the town.

For the theater lovers out there…

Romance begins under the stars at Strato 550, the famous 43rd-floor lunch destination, who will be open for a special pop-up Valentine’s Day dinner. An amuse-bouche of caviar and Champagne, followed by a four-course dinner by Executive Chef Evan Parker, it’s the perfect start to your evening. After dinner, head over to the Wortham Center for the Houston Grand Opera’s production of Aida, a beautiful Italian opera guaranteed to put you both in the mood.

For the foodies…

We’re huge fans of Bravery Chef Hall. With six amazing restaurants to choose from, watch chefs whip up your dinner while you sip on a cocktail or glass of wine. We’re personal fans of BOH Pizza & Pasta and love their freshly made pasta made-to-order. After dinner, head out back to The Secret Garden, one of Downtown’s most beautiful bars located inside a greenhouse. Not ready for the evening to end? Make your way to Phoenicia and choose from their yummy array of cheesecakes, brownies, cakes and macarons and then step around the corner for a nightcap at Downtown’s whiskey bar extraordinaire, Reserve 101.

For the young at heart…

Think outside of the box and take your sweetie for a ride on the Ferris wheel at the Downtown Aquarium. We’d suggest hopping on just in time for a romantic sunset ride. Then, make your way to Bayou & Bottle at the Four Seasons for a round of play on their TopGolf Simulator. While teeing up, grab some grub off their bar menu (which is much more than a typical bar menu). We’d suggest their Bayou Burger. After your round of golf, head to Joystix for an evening of all-you-can-play arcade games! One of Downtown’s best-kept secrets, it’s an arcade game company by day and a bar + Pacman paradise by night. **Be sure to check online prior to heading over, they’re typically only open on Fridays.

For the diehard romantics…

After a long week, enjoy a couple’s massage at Sunset Body Works and relax, together. (Trust us – a massage is one of the best Valentine’s gifts we can think of!). Now that you are super zen, take a Cupid Cruise down Buffalo Bayou. The cozy cruise has spectacular views of Downtown, and you’ll be treated to champagne and chocolate– the ultimate romantic combination. End the evening with a special rooftop dinner at Spindletop at the Hyatt. Located on the 34th floor, Spindletop boasts 360-degree views and is Houston’s only revolving restaurant. If you’re not over the rooftop atmosphere and craving a nightcap, take your date out for a drink under the stars at Z on 23. Pro-tip: order the Pimms Cup #23, it will not disappoint.

For the Anti-Valentine’s Crowd…

Boycotting the holiday? Head over to Warren’s Inn, they’ve got the strongest pour in town. 😊

Just as a reminder, most restaurants Downtown do require reservations.
