Sun’s Out, Fun’s Out!
Your guide to Downtown’s spring events

Spring in Houston is one of the best times of the year! It’s getting warmer out, but it’s not too hot [yet], and everything is starting to bloom. Now more than ever before we’re looking forward to enjoying springtime in the city, lounging on the lawn of your favorite greenspace with an iced lavender latte in hand, courtesy of Day 6 Coffee, or a picnic spread of goodies from Phoenicia. To help you maximize your fun in the sun, we’ve rounded up a few events to check out this spring.

Bring on the Popcorn
The return of movie nights under the stars brings plenty of opportunities to get some fresh air! Grab your blanket/lawn chairs and your movie-loving friends and head to the Historic District for a FREE screening of ‘80s and ‘90s classics. Market Square Park’s can’t miss lineup includes fan-favorite films The Bodyguard [April 9], The Princess Bride [April 21], Nine to Five [May 7] and Coming to America [May 19].

The stars align in the springtime to bring together THREE of our favorite teams. This time of year sees the Astros, Dynamo and Rockets in season at the same time. With fans allowed to attend in-person games on a limited capacity basis, we’re SO happy to be seeing the light at the end of a dark Clutch City sports season.

Our boys Altuve, Correa, Verlander and the rest of the Astros are ready to #TakeItBack this season, beginning with a home opener on April 8 against the Oakland A’s at Minute Maid Park. The Houston Dynamo’s kick off their season April 16 at BBVA Stadium with a match against the San Jose Earthquakes. And the NBA continues in full swing with must-see games against the Suns on April 5, Jazz on April 21 and Warriors on May 1.

Clear Eyes, Full Heart
After being cooped up all winter year, why not embrace the great outdoors with Discovery Green’s Fitness in the Park series?! Mixing their yoga, HIIT or Tai Chi classes into your routine will have you feeling rejuvenated and energized each week.

With the “hibernation” season coming to an end, it’s the perfect time to recharge your mind with Buffalo Bayou Park’s semiweekly Sound Healing Meditation sessions. Held in the Cistern, this series uses wind chimes and singing bowls to encourage mindfulness and connectivity.

Explore A Little More
Celebrate Mother Earth at Discovery Green’s Earth Day party on April 18! Presented by Green Mountain Energy and Citizens Environmental Coalition, the annual event educates, inspires and encourages action through exhibits, a panel discussion and a live mural painting.

As many Houstonians know, the city’s art scene is unlike any other. Spring sees the opening of the latest installation to take over the Cistern at Buffalo Bayou Park, Time No Longer. Created by multimedia artist, Anri Sala, this immersive experience brings together film and sound to create an other-worldly work of art only found in Space City.

Take A Staycay
You know you need an escape, so why not take one poolside? Let Downtown’s hospitality industry turn down the covers, just for you. Bring the kiddos to Glamp In Style at the C. Baldwin, Retreat to Romance at the Hilton Americas-Houston or simply enjoy a luxurious stay Downtown at The Lancaster. When it comes to much needed relaxation, we have you covered.

Visit our online calendar to learn more about all the excitement happening throughout the season, and plan ahead with our interactive map that makes parking Downtown a breeze.
