Save the date! On December 8, wedding crashers are wanted at a one-of-a-kind wedding at Downtown’s historic Market Square Park. One lucky couple will say ‘I do’ and share their first kiss as husband and wife under Macy’s Mistletoe on the Go!- the largest mistletoe in Texas.
In collaboration with the Downtown District, Houston’s own Saint Arnold Brewing Company, the oldest craft brewery in Texas, held an online competition for couples ready to get hitched. After submitting their vows, Sean Lamb and Kanzeana "Nena" Reith were chosen as winners for a unique and blissful pop-up wedding, united in marriage by one very saintly Saint Arnold employee.
"Sean and I had discussed getting married ‘someday’ when we received our Saint Arnold E-Newsletter and saw the Mistletoe Madness contest. It was a sign,” said Nena Reith. “I asked Sean if he was interested in writing vows to win a wedding and he said ‘Go for it! You first.’ We wrote our vows and submitted them the next day."
The Saint Arnold Mistletoe Madness at Market Square Park kicks off at 5 p.m. with live music from the Lords of Kool, plenty of Saint Arnold beer, delicious food from Niko Niko’s and free photos under the mistletoe. Then at 6 p.m., all eyes turn to the bride as she walks down the aisle. And there is more for the lucky couple! The wedding bliss will continue at a later date when Saint Arnold brewery will host the couple’s reception for 100 people.
Following the ceremony, wedding goers can kick up their heels, indulge in delicious wedding cake, cheers to the happy newlyweds, and of course steal their own kisses under Macy’s Mistletoe on the Go! The Lords of Kool will perform the couple’s choice first dance song before they are whisked away in Saint Arnold’s Tie Dye Bentley to a complimentary stay at Hotel Icon. Crashers are invited to stay for more holiday romance as Alamo Drafthouse Rolling Roadshow presents Love Actually at 7:30 p.m.
Want to get in the kiss-mas spirit too? Macy’s Mistletoe on the Go! will be at Market Square Park from December 3 – 9, before moving on to the Hobby Center on December 10. Passersby are invited to stand under the massive ball and kiss—for a cause. For every lip lock shared on the Downtown District’s Facebook page, Macy’s will generously donate $1 (up to $5,000) to Make-A-Wish Foundation, a non-profit that grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions. Practice your perfect peck; your photo may also be in the running for “kiss of the week”!houston, kiss, love actually, market square park, mistletoe madness, saint arnold, wedding
