Ring in the holiday season with The Irish Tenors as they return to Houston Wednesday, Dec. 7, at 8 p.m. in Jones Hall, presented by Society for the Performing Arts (SPA).
Finbar Wright, Anthony Kearns and Ronan Tynan – the original lineup of Irish Tenors – will come together for one night only as part of their Holiday Reunion 2011 tour. Backed by a full orchestra, these famous tenors will perform festive holiday favorites, as well as tunes from their homeland.
Ranked as Ireland’s premier ambassadors of song, The Irish Tenors entertain audiences worldwide with a quality of performance which is unrivalled, incomparable and, most importantly in their eyes, worthy of the rich cultural heritage of the country of Ireland.
Since they first joined voices in 1998, they have made countless traditional musical treasures breathe with new life. The trio has thrilled audiences throughout the world with their lyrical range of Irish music, from medieval madrigals to love songs, lullabies and anthems.
Anthony Kearns began singing publicly in his hometown of Kiltealy at the age of 10. He has received accolades for his talents including Ontario’s Dermot Troy Trophy; Best Male Singer at the Waterford International Festival of Light Opera; and top honors at the ESB Veronica Dunne International Singing Competition.
Finbar Wright, tenor, songwriter and poet, has appeared in concert with such music legends as Monserrat Caballé, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa and rock and roll legend Jerry Lee Lewis. He has won all of the major awards of the Irish Music Industry including Best Artist of the Year.
Ronan Tynan has boasted a successful career with his fellow Tenors, as well as on his own. He became well known in the United States for his renditions of “Amazing Grace,” which he has performed before presidents and monarchs, baseball fans, veterans and more.
In addition to appearing on several PBS specials, The Irish Tenors have toured the world and produced seven best-selling albums reaching the upper echelons of Billboard’s charts, making them one of the most successful Irish touring acts ever, second only to U2.
Part of SPA’s International Series, The Irish Tenors performance is generously sponsored by Reliant Energy, BMC Software, United Airlines and H-E-B.
